ABOUT HURRICANE IAN

Hurricane Ian was a massive Category 4 hurricane that made landfall near Cayo Costa in Florida. On the morning of Sept. 28, Ian regained strength and momentum, with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph. Hurricane Ian caused structural damage to many homes on Florida’s western coast. Floridians experienced intense winds, heavy rainfall, and catastrophic storm surges. Intense flooding was recorded with storm surges that could reach 15- 18 feet above ground level. The United States Coast Guard shed light on staggering data revealing that in cities like Fort Myers flooding reached 13.23 feet. Legal action costs could add between $10 billion & 20 billion to insured losses from Hurricane Ian, says Mark Friedlander Triple-I’s corporate communications director.

TAKE ACTION

Policy insurance companies have made it challenging for property owners to file claims and seek coverage for damages caused by natural disasters. Here are a few of the hurdles a property owner may incur with an insurance company.

At times property insurance companies either deny or underpay claims. In scenarios like this, the property owner may not get compensated correctly for the actual repair cost of the property. Or even worse not receive any compensation. For the most part law firms include a no-cost inspection of the affected property. This is an advantage for the claimant. In this manner, the person can have a better understanding of the real assessment of the repair cost and what they truly deserve to be compensated.

Another card beneath the sleeve is insurance policies commonly include intricate legal language in their documents. It becomes of utmost importance to hurricane victims to begin repairing damaged and lost property as soon as possible. For a claimant navigating alone filing a claim, more especially in the aftermath of the hurricane. The emotional toll and suffering a natural disaster can bring to anyone that has lost their home is of unimaginable proportions. Time is of the utmost importance in situations like this. An experienced attorney in property damage can help you expedite this process.

Lastly, it is important to keep in mind that adjusters are trained to find opportunities to limit what they say to the property owner to avoid full payouts. Hence, insurance disputes can become tedious and difficult. If you are a hurricane victim and are having issues with your insurance company.
